Introduction
Xiaomi HyperAI Engine is a product provided to you by Xiaomi Inc. and our affiliates (hereinafter referred to as "Xiaomi", "we", "our", or "us") that provides AI capabilities and scene recognition for both system and third-party apps.
We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy sets out the principles on which Xiaomi HyperAI Engine operates, and constitutes an important part of Xiaomi Privacy Policy. In the event of inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and Xiaomi Privacy Policy with respect to Xiaomi HyperAI Engine, the former shall prevail. For the terms and conditions not stipulated in this Privacy Policy, Xiaomi Privacy Policy shall prevail. This Privacy Policy is designed with your needs in mind, and it is important that you have a comprehensive understanding of our personal information collection and usage practices, while ensuring that ultimately, you have control of your personal information provided to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, process, and store any information that you give us when you use Xiaomi HyperAI Engine. Under this Privacy Policy, "personal information" means information that can be used to directly or indirectly identify an individual, either from that information alone or from that information combined with other information about that individual available to us. We will use your personal information strictly following this Privacy Policy.

1. What information we collect and how we use it
In collecting and using the information that you actively provide during the use of our products and/or services, as well as personal information that arises from the use of our products and/or services, we will follow the principles of legitimacy, legality, transparency, and necessity, and use this information for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy. If we need to use your personal information for other purposes not specified in this Privacy Policy, or use your personal information previously collected for a specific purpose for other purposes, we will inform you in a reasonable manner, and ask for your consent again before use.
1.1 Personal information that we collect and use with your authorization
The purpose of collecting personal information is to provide you with products and/or services, and to ensure that we comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other regulatory requirements. You have the right to choose whether or not to provide the information we have requested, but in most cases, if you do not provide your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with our services. The related features include:
1.1.1 Scene recognition and perception capabilities
We will collect the following information in order to perceive your current scenario and provide you with more accurate suggestions of ways to use your device:
Bluetooth name, Bluetooth MAC address, Bluetooth connection device type, WLAN name, WLAN MAC address, device identifier (DID), operations and behavior information, MAC address, device status, configuration selection information, app name, app status, app usage time, network connection information (IP address, WLAN MAC address, WLAN SSID, WLAN SSID list, base station information): this information is used to identify your device status and recommend ways to use your device;
Precise location and sensor information are used to determine whether you're working out, driving, have fallen, are entering a train station or airport, etc. in order to recommend habits ways to use your device;
The screen angle, screen on/off time, number of screen taps, app category, and how you're holding your device will be used to determine whether you're sleeping.
In order to better understand your behavior when using other devices, we'll ask you to allow us to use the information generated by your Xiaomi Account in Xiaomi Home, Mi Fitness, and Xiaomi EV. If you agree, we'll collect the following information:
Xiaomi Home data: IDs generated by fingerprints, voiceprints, palmprints, and face data collected by smart home devices, basic information about smart home devices (DID, MAC address, home and room information where smart home devices are located), precise location information of smart home devices, operations and behavior, information reported by smart home devices, smart home device status information, configuration selection information, feature display information, and network connection information (IP address, WLAN MAC address, WLAN SSID, WLAN SSID list), sensor information, and environmental status;
Mi Fitness data: smart wearable device identifiers, workout-related data (including start and end times of workouts, steps, calories, workout duration, Stats), heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep status (time fell asleep and woke up), operations and behaviors, smart wearable device status, smart wearable device configuration selection information, and sensor information (including fall detection, wrist movement status, whether or not you're sitting);
Xiaomi EV networking service data: vehicle identifier (DID), when the vehicle enters or leaves a specific geo-fenced area, vehicle operation status, vehicle display status and configuration selection information, sensor information, and environmental status.
1.1.2 Proactive intelligence (only available on some device models and system versions)
Proactive intelligence uses scene recognition and perception capabilities to provide you with device services, travel services, and lifestyle services.
1.1.2.1 Device services
Device services learns how users use their devices and their preferences through perception, data mining, and behavioral reasoning. This feature recommends one-time operations and automations and can then execute them with the user's consent.
In order to learn your patterns and recommend ways you can use your device (both one-time operations and automations), we will collect your device identifier (UDEVID: Xiaomi Account and hash-encrypted FID value, FID, operations and behaviors, call status (incoming calls, when a call is connected or ended, in-call status), approximate location, device status information, configuration selection information, feature display information, app status, app usage time, Bluetooth connection information (device type, Bluetooth connection status, Bluetooth switch status), network connection information (WLAN SSID, WLAN switch status), location switch status, hotspot switch status, and earphone connection status.
In order to recommend one-time operations and automations for multiple devices, we need to learn how you use other devices. To provide this service, we will collect your Xiaomi Account for identity recognition and verification. We'll ask you to allow us to use the information generated by your Xiaomi Account in Xiaomi Home, Mi Fitness, and Xiaomi EV. If you agree, we'll collect the following information:
Xiaomi Home data: smart home device identifier (DID), operations and behaviors, smart home device reports, precise location, smart home device status and configuration selection information, sensor information, and environmental status;
Mi Fitness data: smart wearable device identifiers, workout-related data (including start and end times of workouts, steps, calories, workout duration, Stats), heart rate, blood oxygen, sleep status (time fell asleep and woke up), operations and behaviors, smart wearable device status, smart wearable device configuration selection information, and sensor information (including fall detection, wrist movement status, whether or not you're sitting);
Xiaomi EV networking service data: vehicle identifier (DID), when the vehicle enters or leaves a specific geo-fenced area, vehicle operation status, vehicle display status and configuration selection information, sensor information, and environmental status.
1.1.2.2 Travel services
We provide travel services via Notification spotlight. In order to provide services and suggestions related to daily commutes and business trips, we will collect your precise location and approximate location. Your approximate location will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud. In order to quickly open subway QR codes, we will collect your precise location, approximate location, Bluetooth information, and sensor information. Your precise location will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud. In order to increase the accuracy of reminder services, we will also collect the times that your device's screen turns on and off. This information will only be collected and stored locally on your device. In order to learn your app usage habits and recommend appropriate services, we will collect information about your overall app installation and usage. Learning and prediction regarding app usage habits is only performed locally on your device. We also need to collect your Xiaomi Account information and the trip information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. Trip information won't be stored. In order to predict your commuting method and provide you with more accurate commute time information, we will collect acceleration data during your commute. This information will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud for processing.
1.1.2.3 Lifestyle services
We provide lifestyle services via Notification spotlight. In order to provide a variety of services related to entertainment, work, and social life, we will collect your precise location and approximate location. This information will be used to determine whether you've arrived at places like the cinema, your workplace, or your home. Precise location will be used when possible; when precise location isn't available, approximate location will be used instead. This information is only processed locally on your device. In order to increase the accuracy of reminder services, we will also collect the times that your device's screen turns on and off. This information will only be collected and stored locally on your device. In order to learn your app usage habits and recommend appropriate services, we will collect your overall app installation and usage information. This information is only processed locally on your device and not stored. In order to provide you with clock-in reminders, we will collect your Xiaomi Account information and the company address and clock-in information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. We will remind you to clock in before the time you indicate, but company address and clock-in information won't be stored.
1.1.3 Mi AI suggestions
The following features will be provided via widgets:
1.1.3.1 Food expiration date reminders
In order to provide you with food expiration date reminders, we will collect your Xiaomi Account information and the shelf life information of food items that you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. Based on this data, we will remind you when food items are about to expire. We won't store shelf life information.
1.1.3.2 Medication reminders
In order to provide you with medication reminders, we will collect your Xiaomi Account information, device identifier (RegID), and the medication information (drug name; time, frequency, duration, and amount of medication taken) that you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. We will then send you an advance reminder to take your medication. When you receive a reminder, you can indicate that you've taken the medicine or skip it. We won't store medication-related information that you provide to Mi AI voice assistant.
1.1.3.3 Event reminders
In order to provide event reminder services, we will collect event data from Calendar. We won't save or store this information. In order to provide event reminders based on common locations or the start and end times of your workday, we will collect your precise location, approximate location, and times that your screen turns on and off. This information will be used to learn your habits related to time and location and make predictions, and will only be processed locally on your device. We will also collect the start and end times of your workday and the locations of your home and office as provided to Mi AI voice assistant. We won't save or store your work time information.
1.1.3.4 Subway and gas station payment codes
To allow you to quickly scan codes in the subway or at a gas station, we will collect your Bluetooth information, sensor information, precise location, and approximate location. Precise location information will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud. To ensure the accuracy of reminder services, we will also collect the times that the screen turns on and off. This information will be stored locally on your device. In order to accurately recommend subway ride or gas station payment code service providers based on your app usage habits, we will also collect your overall app installation and usage information. This information is only processed on your device and isn't stored.
1.1.3.5 Anniversaries
In order to send you reminders of upcoming anniversaries, we will collect your Xiaomi Account information as well as birthdays and anniversaries you add to Calendar or provide to Mi AI voice assistant. We won't save or store birthday and anniversary information.
1.1.3.6 Countdowns
In order to provide you with countdown services, we will collect your Xiaomi Account information and the countdown length or target you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. We'll provide a countdown reminder every day based on this data. We won't store this information.
1.1.3.7 Goal reminders
In order to provide you with goal reminders, we need to collect your Xiaomi Account information and the goal information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. We won't save goal information to our servers.
1.1.3.8 Commute suggestions
In order to provide you with commute suggestions and carry out location-related learning and prediction, we will collect your precise location and approximate location. Your approximate location will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud. In order to increase the accuracy of reminder services, we will also collect the times that your device's screen turns on and off. This information will only be collected and stored locally on your device. In order to learn your app usage habits and recommend appropriate services, we will collect information about your overall app installation and usage. Learning and prediction regarding app usage habits is only performed locally on your device. We also need to collect your Xiaomi Account information and the trip information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. Trip information won't be stored. In order to predict your commuting method and provide you with more accurate commute time information, we will collect acceleration data during your commute. This information will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud for processing.
1.1.3.9 In-car reminders and recommendations
In order to provide you with reminders when getting in the car, we will collect your precise location, approximate location, times when the screen turns on and off, Xiaomi Account information, vehicle information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant, and events you add to Calendar. This information will be processed locally on your device. We will also collect your Bluetooth connection information (Bluetooth name, Bluetooth MAC address, and Bluetooth connection status). This information will be used to determine whether or not you're in your vehicle. We will also collect information about how you use apps when you get in your car to provide you with relevant app recommendations. We use this information for learning and prediction purposes on your device.
1.1.3.10 Parking assistant
In order to provide you with parking reminder services, we will collect the event data you provide in Calendar. We will also collect your precise location and approximate location in order to obtain your parking location and help you navigate. To determine your parking status, we'll also collect your Bluetooth connection status and record your parking behavior. This information will only be processed locally on your device. We will also collect your Bluetooth connection information (Bluetooth name, Bluetooth MAC address, Bluetooth connection status), Xiaomi Account information, and the vehicle and parking location information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. Parking location information won't be stored. In order to ensure the accuracy of this service, we will also collect the times that the screen turns on and off. This information will be collected and stored locally on your device.
1.1.3.11 Quick scanning
In order to provide you with quick scanning services and personalized point-of-interest learning and prediction features, we will collect your precise location and approximate location when you scan using WeChat, Alipay, or WeChat Pay. Your precise location will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud. In order to increase the accuracy of reminder services, we will also collect the times that your device's screen turns on and off. This information will only be collected and stored locally on your device. In order to learn your app usage habits and recommend appropriate services, we will collect your overall app installation and usage information. This information is only processed locally on your device and not stored.
1.1.3.12 Clock-in reminders
In order to provide you with clock-in reminders, we will collect your Xiaomi Account information and the company address and clock-in information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. We will remind you to clock in before the time you indicate, but company address and clock-in information won't be stored. In order to provide this service and more accurate Mi AI learning and prediction features, we will collect your precise location and approximate location. Precise location will be used when possible; when precise location isn't available, approximate location will be used instead. This information is only processed locally on your device. In order to increase the accuracy of reminder services, we will also collect the times that your device's screen turns on and off. This information will only be collected and stored locally on your device. In order to learn your app usage habits and recommend appropriate services, we will collect your overall app installation and usage information. This information is only processed locally on your device and not stored.
1.1.3.13 Weather alerts
In order to provide you with weather alerts, we will collect your precise location and approximate location. When possible, your precise location will be used. This information will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud for processing. We will also collect the transportation methods you provide to Mi AI voice assistant, but won't store this information.
1.1.3.14 Traffic restriction reminders
In order to provide traffic restriction reminders, we will collect your precise location and approximate location. This information will be encrypted and uploaded to the cloud for processing. We will also collect your Xiaomi Account information and the vehicle information you provide to Mi AI voice assistant. Vehicle information won't be stored.
1.1.4 Super Mi AI (only available on some device models and system versions)
You can have apps perform certain actions by giving commands to Super Mi AI. In order to provide this service, we'll collect the list of installed apps and app information to determine whether the device supports the requested command and execute it. When commands are associated with the content displayed on the screen, we will also collect screen content to help identify and execute commands. When your commands involve accessing and editing multimedia items on your device, we'll also collect this data (including items from Gallery, Recorder, Notes, Messaging, and files). Please rest assured this information will be stored only on your device.
1.1.5 Xiaomi HyperAI search
You can use natural language search capabilities to search and view relevant content by entering keywords in the search bars of Gallery, Recorder, Notes, Messaging, File Manager, Search, Mi AI suggestions. In order to provide this feature, we'll collect data stored in Gallery, Recorder, Notes, Messaging, File Manager, and contact information. Please rest assured this informtion will be stored only on your device.
1.1.6 Computing support (only available on some device models and system versions)
In order to provide Computing support services, we'll collect the text and notification content you select on a device with low computing power for cross-device AI briefing and AI writing features.
1.2 Personal information you may choose whether to authorize us to collect and use
In order to improve your experience using recommendation services, the following additional features may collect and use your personal information. If you choose not to provide this personal information, you can still use the aforementioned basic services, but you may not have access to these additional features. The additional features include:
1.2.1 Personalized recommendations
In order to provide you with information display and push services that align with your needs, we will collect your precise location, approximate location, device status, step count, and overall app installation and usage information. This data will be used to determine your preferences and generate aggregated user profiles, which are used to recommend content tailored to your preferences. Please rest assured that we will securely encrypt your information before saving it to our servers. We also provide general service options that are not based on your personal information. You can control your privacy settings or turn off personalized recommendations at any time in the privacy settings of the Mi AI suggestions widget.
1.2.2 User Experience Program
In order to provide you with higher quality and more accurate services, we may collect your precise location, approximate location, and Bluetooth MAC address. This information will be encrypted, processed on your device, and uploaded to the cloud. You can control your privacy settings and unenroll from the User Experience Program at any time in the privacy settings of the Mi AI suggestions widget.
1.3 Permissions
Xiaomi HyperAI Engine may request some or all of the following permissions. When we ask for a permission, we will inform you of the purpose of this permission and the possible impact on your use of the service if you don't grant the permission. Please review this information carefully. Before using specific features, you can choose whether or not to grant the following permissions. Details are as follows:
1.3.1 Access device ID and status
This permission is used to access information about the currently connected base station.
1.3.2 Turn Bluetooth on and off
This permission is used to access your Bluetooth connection status.
1.3.3 Access location
This permission is used to access your device location.
1.3.4 Send notifications
This permission is used to send push notifications to you.
1.3.5 Access calendar
This permission is used to access your calendar events.
1.3.6 Access photos and videos
This permission is used for searching photos and videos.
1.3.7 Access documents
This permission is used to search document content.
1.3.8 Access SMS
This permission is used to search SMS content.
1.3.9 Access notes
This permission is used to search note content.
1.3.10 Access recordings
This permission is used to search recorded content.
1.3.11 Access contacts
This permission is used to access contact information to provide AI search features.
1.4 Collection of personal information from third-party sources
When permitted by law, we may collect information about you from third-party sources. For example, we verify your information for specific accounts through legal means with your authorization for the purpose of security and fraud prevention; you authorize the third-party account to sign in to use our service or authorize the import of your information (such as account name or nickname) on the third-party platform; or we collect information related to you provided by others.
1.5 Non-personally identifiable information
We may also collect other types of information which are not directly or indirectly linked to an individual and which may not be defined as personal information according to applicable local laws. Such information is called non-personally identifiable information. We may include statistical data generated when you use a specific service (e.g. non-identifiable device-related information, daily usage, page views, page view times, and session events); network monitoring data (e.g. request time, number of requests or error requests, etc.); and app crash events. The purpose of such collection is to improve the services we provide to you. The type and amount of information collected depends on how you use our products and/or services.
We collect information such as unique device identifier, device model, and system version number when you use our website or mobile apps. This information is aggregated and used to help us provide more useful information to our customers and to understand which parts of our websites, products, and/or services they are most interested in. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, aggregated data is not personal information as it cannot be used to identify you. However, if we combine non-personally identifiable information with personal information, such combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.
2. How we share your personal information

2.1.1 Sharing that you actively choose or request
With your explicit consent or at your request, we will share your personal information within the scope of your consent/request with specific third parties designated by you.
2.1.2 Sharing information with our group
In order to successfully conduct business operations and to provide you with all the features of our products or services, we may share your personal information from time to time with other Xiaomi affiliates.
2.1.3 Sharing your personal information with third-party service providers
Part of the services in App finder are provided by third-party service providers. For this reason, we need to provide some of your personal information to our partners, related parties, and third-party service providers in order to provide the services that you have requested. If we share your personal information with such third parties, we will take appropriate measures to ensure the security of the processing of your personal information, including but not limited to the encryption of your personal information. We will reasonably examine the data security environment of the companies and organizations with which we share personal information and sign data processing agreements. We will require third parties to take sufficient measures to protect your information and strictly abide by the relevant laws and regulations as well as regulatory requirements.
2.2 Information that we may collect and use without your consent
We may share anonymized information and statistics in aggregated form with third parties for business purposes. For example, we may share trends regarding general usage of our services (such as how many customers in a certain demographic purchase certain products or conduct certain transactions) with advertisers on our websites.
Xiaomi may collect, use, or disclose your personal information without your consent if and only to the extent expressly permitted by local data protection laws. Such disclosure may be necessary to protect our rights, ensure your safety and the safety of others, and comply with local government requests to facilitate investigations of illegal activities.
3. How we store and protect your personal information
3.1 Security safeguards
We are committed to keeping your personal information secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or other similar risks, we have put in place all legally required physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect on your mobile device and on Xiaomi websites. We will ensure that we safeguard your personal information in accordance with applicable law.
All your personal information is stored on secure servers and protected in controlled facilities. We classify your information based on importance and sensitivity and ensure that your personal information has the required level of security. We have special access controls for cloud-based data storage, and we regularly review our information collection, storage, and processing practices, including physical security measures, to guard against any unauthorized access and use.
We conduct due diligence on business partners and third-party service providers to make sure that they are able to protect your personal information. We also check that appropriate security standards are maintained by these third parties by putting in place appropriate contractual restrictions, and where necessary, carrying out audits and assessments. In addition, our employees and those of our business partners and third party service providers who access your personal information are subject to enforceable contractual obligations of confidentiality.
We conduct security and privacy protection training courses and tests to enhance our employees' awareness of the importance of protecting personal information. We will take all practicable and legally required steps to safeguard your personal information. However, you should be aware that the use of the Internet is not entirely secure, and for this reason we cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal information when transferred from you or to you via the Internet.
We handle personal data breaches as required by applicable data protection law which includes, where required, notifying the breach to the relevant data protection supervisory authority and data subjects.
3.2 What you can do
You can set a unique password for Xiaomi services and not disclose your password or account information to anybody (unless such a person is duly authorized by you) to avoid password leaks to other websites which may harm your account security at Xiaomi. Whenever possible, do not disclose Xiaomi verification codes you received to anyone (including those who claim to be Xiaomi customer service). Whenever you sign in as a Xiaomi Account user on Xiaomi websites, particularly on somebody else's computer or on public Internet terminals, you should always sign out at the end of your session.
When you leave Xiaomi HyperAI Engine products or services to browse or use other products and/or services provided by third parties, the third party's privacy statement or related policies will apply to any personal information you provide to them. Once you navigate away from Xiaomi HyperAI Engine products or services, we will not have the ability nor the direct obligation to protect any personal information you provide to a third party. Please properly protect your personal information and carefully read the privacy statement or related policies provided by the third party.
Xiaomi cannot be held responsible for lapses in security caused by a third party accessing your personal information as a result of your failure to keep your personal information private. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you must notify us immediately if there is any unauthorized use of your account by any other Internet user or any other breach of security.
Your assistance will help us protect the privacy of your personal information.
3.3 Retention policy
We retain personal information for the period necessary for the purpose of information collection as described in this Privacy Policy or as required by applicable laws. We will cease to retain and delete or anonymize personal information once the purpose of collection is fulfilled, or after we confirm your request for erasure, or after we terminate the operation of the corresponding product or service. An exception to this is personal information that we are processing for public interest, scientific or historical research, or statistical purposes. We will continue to retain this type of information for longer than its standard retention period, where permitted based on applicable laws, even if further data processing is not related to the original purpose of collection.
4. Transferring your personal information outside of your jurisdiction
If we need to transfer your personal information that we hold outside of your jurisdiction, whether to our affiliated companies (in the communication, social media, information technology, and cloud business fields) or third-party service providers, we will comply with applicable laws throughout the process. In particular, we will ensure that all data transfers comply with the requirements of your applicable local data protection laws by taking appropriate protective measures. You have the right to be informed about the protection measures taken by Xiaomi when transferring your personal information.
Xiaomi may use overseas facilities under our operation and control to process or back up your personal information. Currently, we have data centers in China, the United States, Singapore, India, Russia, and Germany. These jurisdictions may or may not have data protection laws that are substantially similar to those in your jurisdiction. We may transfer your personal information to and store it in our other facilities. However, this does not change our commitment to comply with this Privacy Policy and protect your personal information.
5. Your rights
5.1 Controlling settings
Xiaomi recognizes that privacy concerns differ from person to person. Therefore, we provide examples of ways for you to restrict the collection, use, disclosure, or processing of your personal information and to control your privacy settings:
Turn location, Bluetooth, device status, and device ID permissions on or off.
Clear your data in Settings > Apps > Manage apps > Xiaomi HyperAI Engine.
If you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for the aforementioned purposes, you may change your mind at any time by writing or contacting us on https://privacy.mi.com/support.
5.2 Accessing, updating, correcting, and deleting your personal information
You have the right to access and correct any information that we hold about you. When you update your personal information, we will first ask you to verify your identity before processing your request. Once we obtain sufficient information to process your request to access or correct your personal information, we will respond to your request within any time frame specified by applicable data protection laws.
A copy of your personal information that we hold and process will be provided to you free of charge upon your request. For any additional related requests, we may charge reasonable fees based on actual costs and in accordance with applicable laws.
If you wish to request access to your personal data that we hold, or if you believe that any information we hold about you is incorrect or incomplete, you can submit a request on https://privacy.mi.com/support.
You can sign in to your Xiaomi Account on https://account.xiaomi.com/ and go to the Privacy tab to withdraw your consent to specific services and manage your data.
