Mi Video is an audio and video playback platform provided by Beijing Wali Network Technology Co., Ltd. and its affiliated companies (hereinafter referred to as "Xiaomi", "we", "our", or "us").

We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy is a privacy statement and commitment from Beijing Wali Network Technology Co., Ltd., sets out the principles on which Mi Video operates, and constitutes an important part of Xiaomi Privacy Policy. In the event of inconsistency between this Privacy Policy and Xiaomi Privacy Policy with respect to Mi Video, the former shall prevail. For the terms and conditions not stipulated in this Privacy Policy, Xiaomi Privacy Policy shall prevail. This Privacy Policy is designed with your needs in mind, and it is important that you have a comprehensive understanding of our personal information collection and usage practices, while ensuring that ultimately, you have control of your personal information provided to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, process, and store any information that you give us when you use Mi Video. Under this Privacy Policy, "personal information" means information that can be used to directly or indirectly identify an individual, either from that information alone or from that information combined with other information about that individual available to us. 1. What information we collect and how we use it

1.1 Personal information that we collect and use with your authorization

The purpose of collecting personal information is to provide you with products and/or services, and to ensure that we comply with applicable laws, regulations, and other regulatory requirements. You have the right to choose whether or not to provide the information we have requested, but in most cases, if you do not provide your personal information, we may not be able to provide you with our services. The related features include:

  1. Signing in

You need to sign in to Mi Video via your Xiaomi Account. When creating a Xiaomi Account, your email address, phone number, and other personal information may be collected. Read the Xiaomi Account Privacy Policy carefully before signing in with your Xiaomi Account. We'll automatically collect your Xiaomi Account ID in order to associate your Xiaomi Account with your actions and operations in Mi Video.

  1. Video playback

In order to troubleshoot issues you encounter when using Mi Video, provide software version features, and improve your viewing experience of movies, short videos, and more, we will collect your device type, system version, app version, region and language settings, player version, network type, and the list of installed apps on your device (when you search for third-party videos, we'll use this information to determine whether you've installed Tencent Video, Youku, Mango TV, or other such apps to provide you with third-party app services; when you share videos or view ads, we'll determine whether third-party apps have been installed in order to provide these features). We'll also use your personal information to improve and optimize the aforementioned services. When you use Mi Video to play videos stored on your device, we'll collect media data, including videos, audio, and photos.

  1. Searching videos

When you use search features, we will collect your search terms, search time, and type of search (including whether you searched for long or short videos). This information is collected in order to provide the content you're looking for and content you may be interested in. We use the aforementioned personal information to improve our services and enhance this feature.

You can also use search features to accurately find particular videos. We'll retain your search content to help you find videos you've searched before and to show you related content. Please note this information does not by itself identify an individual and we may use it for any lawful purpose. When the information allows us to identify you in combination with other data, we will treat the combined information as personal information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

1.2 Personal information you may choose whether to authorize us to collect and use

  1. To improve your experience using Mi Video, we may collect and use your personal information for the additional features below to work. If you choose not to provide this personal information, you can still use Mi Video, but you may not have access to these additional features. The additional features include:

(1) Value-added services: When you pay the required fee, you can subscribe to a Mi Video membership and enjoy the related benefits, including value-added services and ad-free viewing of paid content. During the purchase process, we'll collect your Xiaomi Account, membership status, membership validity period, and order information to generate an order and provide you with value-added services.

(2) Commenting, liking, following, and adding items to favorites: When you add comments on videos, like a comment, add a video to favorites, or follow an account, we'll collect this information for display.

(3) Clipboard services: When you copy, cut, and paste items in Mi Video, we'll collect your clipboard content to provide these services.

(4) Cash withdrawal features: Mi Video sometimes provides promotions such as receiving cash prizes ("red envelopes") for watching videos. This cash can be withdrawn via WeChat. To provide this feature, we'll collect your Xiaomi ID in order to issue these prizes. According to applicable national laws and regulations, you'll need to provide the real name associated with the bank account bound to your WeChat. You won't be able to use the corresponding features if you don't provide this information or the information is inaccurate. We'll also collect your WeChat-authorized OpenID and WeChat nickname and profile photo. In order to ensure that we can provide this feature in accordance with national tax reporting requirements, we will also collect your ID number and mobile phone number. If you don't provide this information, you may not be able to withdraw funds.

  1. Personalized services

In order to provide you with personalized recommendations, we'll collect your browsing history in the app (including searches, browsed items, feedback, browsing behaviors, and browsing time) and device identifier (OAID). This information will be used to analyze your browsing behavior when using Mi Video, locate content you may be more interested in, and recommend it to you.

You can decide whether to accept personalized content recommendations. In the app, go to your Profile, and tap the Settings icon in the top right corner. Go to Privacy > Personalized recommendations and turn this feature on or off. If you turn this feature off, you'll no longer receive personalized recommendations, but your use of other services won't be affected. If you're not interested in a certain type of content or wish to reduce the amount of that type of content recommended to you, press and hold an item and select "Not interested". We'll take your feedback into account when making recommendations.

  1. Additional features based on device permissions

In order to improve your experience using Mi Video, we may collect and use your personal information when providing you with the following additional features. If you choose not to provide this information, it will not affect your use of basic browsing, searching, and purchasing services on our platform, but you may not be able to use additional features based on the personal information. The additional features include:

(1) Additional features based on permission to access and edit the calendar: This permission is used to sync reminders to your calendar when you set a reminder for a TV program.

(2) Additional features based on permission to access external storage: This permission is used to watch videos stored on your device.

(3) Additional features based on access to device identifier: This permission is used to provide playback services best suited to your device.

Please note that if you grant any of these permissions, it means that you consent to our collection and use of this personal information to provide the corresponding service. However, if you rescind permission, you will withdraw your consent and we will cease to collect or use your personal information and will thus be unable to continue providing you with the corresponding feature. Your withdrawal of consent will not affect the collection and use of your personal information based on your consent up until the point of withdrawal.

  1. Widgets

Mi Video supports Home screen widgets. This feature needs to receive system broadcasts (android.appwidget.action.APPWIDGET_UPDATE) in order to update the widget and associated data.

1.3 You are fully informed that we may collect and use personal information without your consent if:

  1. The personal information is vital to national security and defense;

  2. The personal information is vital to public safety, public health, and major public interests;

  3. The personal information is related to criminal investigations, prosecutions, trials, or execution of judgments;

  4. The personal information is essential for protecting major legitimate rights (including life and property) and interests of the personal information subject or other people, but it is hard to obtain the subject's consent;

  5. The personal information collected is made public by the subject at their own discretion;

  6. The personal information is collected from public sources, such as news reports or government announcements;

  7. The personal information is necessary for us to sign the contract as required by you;

  8. The personal information is necessary to maintain the safe and steady operation of products and/or services provided, such as for discovering and handling faults of products and/or services;

  9. The personal information is required for legal news releases; and

  10. The personal information is de-identified in the results of statistical or academic research based on public interest.

1.4 Non-personally identifiable information

We may also collect other types of information which are not directly or indirectly linked to an individual (and which may not be defined as personal information). Such information may include statistical data generated when you use a specific service, such as video play data (including number of taps on a video and playback time), number of downloaded videos, and ad exposure data (including number of views and ad exposure duration). The purpose of such collection is to improve the services we provide to you. The type and amount of information collected depends on how you use our products and/or services. We use this information in an aggregated form to provide you with more useful information and to understand which parts of our products and services you are most interested in. For the purpose of this Privacy Policy, aggregated data is not personal information as it cannot be used to identify you. However, if we combine non-personally identifiable information with personal information, such combined information will be treated as personal information for as long as it remains combined.

2. How we use cookies and other technologies

Technologies such as cookies, tags, and scripts are used by Xiaomi and our third party service providers and business partners (for more information see "How we share, transfer, and publicly disclose your personal information" below). These technologies are used for analyzing trends, administering the site, tracking users' movements around the website, and to gather demographic information about our user base as a whole. We may receive reports based on the use of these technologies by these companies on an individual as well as aggregated basis. These technologies help us better understand users’ behavior, tell us which parts of our websites people have visited, and facilitate and measure the effectiveness of advertisements and web searches. We treat information collected by cookies and other technologies as non‑personally identifiable information, except where Internet Protocol (IP) addresses or similar identifiers are considered personal information by local laws.

  • Log files: As true of most websites, we gather certain information and store it in log files. This information may include IP address, browser type, internet service provider (ISP), referring/exit pages, operating system, date/time stamp, and/or clickstream data. We do not link this automatically collected data to other information we gather about you.

  • Mobile analytics: Within some of our mobile apps we use mobile analytics software to allow us to better understand the functionality of our software on your device. This software may record information such as how often you use the app, events that occur within the app, aggregated usage, performance data, and where crashes occur within the app. We do not link the information we store within the analytics software to any personal information you submit within the app.

  • Local storage – HTML5/Flash: We use Local Storage Objects (LSOs) such as HTML5 or Flash to store content and preferences. Third parties with whom we partner to provide certain features on our sites or to display advertising based upon your web browsing activity also use HTML5 or Flash cookies to collect and store information. Some of the service content of this product is provided by third-party service providers. In order to provide services to you, we need to provide some of your personal information to these third-party service providers.

4. How we store and protect your personal information

4.1 Security safeguards

We are committed to keeping your personal information secure. In order to prevent unauthorized access, disclosure, or other similar risks, we have put in place all legally required physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect on your mobile device and on Xiaomi websites. We will ensure that we safeguard your personal information in accordance with applicable law.

All your personal information is stored on secure servers and protected in controlled facilities. We classify your information based on importance and sensitivity and ensure that your personal information has the required level of security. We have special access controls for cloud-based data storage, and we regularly review our information collection, storage, and processing practices, including physical security measures, to guard against any unauthorized access and use.

We conduct due diligence on business partners and third-party service providers to make sure that they are able to protect your personal information. We also check that appropriate security standards are maintained by these third parties by putting in place appropriate contractual restrictions, and where necessary, carrying out audits and assessments. In addition, our employees and those of our business partners and third party service providers who access your personal information are subject to enforceable contractual obligations of confidentiality.

We conduct security and privacy protection training courses and tests to enhance our employees' awareness of the importance of protecting personal information. We will take all practicable and legally required steps to safeguard your personal information. However, you should be aware that the use of the Internet is not entirely secure, and for this reason we cannot guarantee the security or integrity of any personal information when transferred from you or to you via the Internet.

We handle personal data breaches as required by applicable data protection law which includes, where required, notifying the breach to the relevant data protection supervisory authority and data subjects.

4.2 What you can do

You can set a unique password for Xiaomi services and not disclose your password or account information to anybody (unless such person is duly authorized by you) to avoid password leaks to other websites which may harm your account security at Xiaomi. Whenever possible, do not disclose Xiaomi verification codes you received to anyone (including those who claim to be Xiaomi customer service). Whenever you sign in as a Xiaomi Account user on Xiaomi websites, particularly on somebody else's computer or on public Internet terminals, you should always sign out at the end of your session.

Xiaomi cannot be held responsible for lapses in security caused by a third party accessing your personal information as a result of your failure to keep your personal information private. Notwithstanding the foregoing, you must notify us immediately if there is any unauthorized use of your account by any other Internet user or any other breach of security.

Your assistance will help us protect the privacy of your personal information.

4.3 Retention policy

We will only retain your personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes we collected it for, including for the purposes of our legitimate business interests and satisfying any legal or reporting requirements. We will cease to retain and delete or anonymize personal information once the purpose of collection is fulfilled, or after we confirm your request for erasure, or after we terminate the operation of the corresponding product or service. An exception to this is personal information that we are processing for public interest, scientific or historical research, or statistical purposes. We will continue to retain this type of information for longer than its standard retention period, where permitted based on applicable laws, even if further data processing is not related to the original purpose of collection.

Your information will be stored within the territory of the People's Republic of China.

5. Your rights

5.1 Controlling settings

Xiaomi recognizes that privacy concerns differ from person to person. Therefore, we provide examples of ways for you to restrict the collection, use, disclosure, or processing of your personal information and to control your privacy settings:

  • Turn Child mode on or off in Profile > Settings > Current version > Child mode. When Child mode is on, you'll need to enter a password to be able to turn it off.

  • Manage online content in Profile > Settings > Other > Online services. Please note that if you turn off online services, you won't be able to watch online videos, but you'll still be able to watch videos stored on your device.

  • Manage personalized content in Profile > Settings > Privacy > Personalized recommendations. Please note that if you turn off personalized content, you'll still be served content, but it won't be based on your preferences.

  • Manage personalized ads in Profile > Settings > Privacy > Personalized ads. Please note that if you turn off personalized ads, you'll still be served ads, but they won't be based on your preferences.

  • Edit your personal information, including nickname, gender, and birthday in Profile > Settings.

If you have previously agreed to us using your personal information for the aforementioned purposes, you may change your mind at any time by contacting us on https://privacy.mi.com/support.

5.2 Your rights to your personal information

According to applicable laws and regulations, you have the right to view and edit the personal information associated with your Xiaomi Account:

  • You may also access and update the details relating to the personal information in your Xiaomi Account at http://account.mi.com or by signing in to your account on your device. For additional information, please contact us on https://privacy.mi.com/support.

The request should meet the requirements of applicable laws and the following conditions:

  • The request is submitted through Xiaomi's exclusive request channel detailed above and for the protection of your information security, your request should be in writing (unless the local law explicitly recognizes the oral request);

  • You provide sufficient information to enable Xiaomi to verify your identity and ensure that you are the data subject or legally authorized to act on the data subject's behalf.

Once we obtain sufficient information to confirm that your request can be processed, we shall proceed to respond to your request within any timeframe set out under your applicable data protection laws. In detail:

  • Based on the requirements of applicable laws, a copy of your personal data collected and processed by us will be provided to you upon your request free of charge. For any extra requests for relevant information, we may charge a reasonable fee based on actual administrative costs according to and if permitted by the applicable laws.

  • If any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, you are entitled to have your personal information corrected or completed based on the purpose of use.

  • Based on the requirements of applicable laws, you may have the right to request the deletion or removal of your personal information. We shall consider the grounds regarding your erasure request and take reasonable steps, including technical measures. Please note that we may not be able to immediately remove the information from the backup system due to applicable legal and/or technological limitations. If this is the case, we will securely store your personal information and isolate it from any further processing until the backup can be deleted or made anonymous. For example, according to the E-commerce Law of the People's Republic of China, information on your goods, services, and transactions will be saved for no less than three years from the date of transaction completion.

We have the right to refuse to process requests that are not meaningful, manifestly unfounded or excessive, requests that damage others' right to privacy, extremely unrealistic requests, and requests that require disproportionate technical work, as well as requests not required under local law, regarding information that has been made public, and regarding information given under confidential conditions. If we believe that certain aspects of a request to delete the information may result in our inability to legally use the information for the establishment, exercise, or defense of legal claims or reasons permitted by applicable law, it may also be rejected.

5.3 Withdrawal of consent

  • You can withdraw your consent to our collection, use, and/or disclosure of your personal information that we hold in Profile > Settings > Legal documents > Withdrawal of consent. Based on the specific service you are using, you can contact us on https://privacy.mi.com/support. We will process your request within a reasonable time from when the request was made, and thereafter not collect, use, and/or disclose your personal information as per your request.

  • Please note that your withdrawal of consent may result in certain legal consequences. Additionally, you may not be able to continue receiving the full benefit of Xiaomi's products and services, depending on how much authority you grant us to process your information when you use Mi Video. The withdrawal of your consent or authorization will not affect the validity of our processing carried out on the basis of the consent up until the point of withdrawal.

5.4 Canceling a service or account

  • If you wish to cancel a specific product or service, on your profile, go to Settings > Other and select the option to cancel services. You can also contact us on https://privacy.mi.com/support to cancel services.
  • If you wish to cancel the Xiaomi Account, please note that the cancellation will prevent you from using the full range of Xiaomi products and services. To protect your or others' legitimate rights and interests, we will judge whether or not to support your request for cancellation based on your use of various Xiaomi products and services.

6. Protection of minors’ information

6.1 Protection of minors

We take the protection of children's personal information seriously. If you are a minor under the age of 18, you should read and agree to this Privacy Policy under the supervision and guidance of your parent or guardian before using Mi Video and related services.

If you are a minor under the age of 14, your parent or guardian must carefully read our Rules on the Protection of Children's Personal Information, and you must use our services and provide us with personal information only with your parent or guardian's consent.

If you are the guardian of a minor under the age of 14, please ensure that the minor under your guardianship only uses our services with your consent.

If you find that a minor under the age of 14 under your guardianship has used our services or provided us with personal information without your consent, you can contact us via the contact information provided in this Agreement to ensure that the personal information is deleted and the minor unsubscribes from any applicable services.

6.2 Child mode

You can turn Child mode on or off in Profile > Settings > Current version > Child mode.

When Child mode is turned on, some features (including top-up purchases and comments) will be unavailable. Accounts with Child mode turned on are subject to restrictions on when and for how long they can use Mi Video. If these limits are exceeded, a password is required to continue using the app.

7. Sharing your personal information with third-party service providers

Part of the services in Mi Video are provided by third-party service providers. For this reason, we need to provide some of your personal information to our partners, related parties, and third-party service providers in order to provide the services that you have requested. If we share your personal information with such third parties, we will guarantee the security of your information with encryption and other measures. We will reasonably examine the data security environment of the companies and organizations with which we share personal information and sign data processing agreements. We will require third parties to take sufficient measures to protect your information and strictly abide by the relevant laws and regulations as well as regulatory requirements.

We review this Privacy Policy periodically based on changes in business and technology, and we may update this Privacy Policy.
